If you read my last post here, you know I’ve opened paid subscriptions specifically to serialize my near dystopian novel First They Came For. I’ve promised every Friday installments, the first of which will post on Friday, February 28, and since consistent posting here hasn’t been my best thing, I figured I should start practicing.
I hope to keep gathering interest over the next two weeks, and thought I might tempt more readers with a couple of teasers. The book opens in Kansas City, or what it’s morphed into after the Presidential Proclamation.
I won’t give you the entire opening section here, but want to introduce you to Grant, who’s one of four main characters, all of whom are, or will become, connected. Like most of my novels, the book is in verse. Substack doesn’t really allow the correct formatting, so we’ll have to try it a different way.
For today:
I’ll keep working on the best way to present the pages here, but you’ve got a little taste now. Next time, I’ll introduce you to Valeria.
And since you’re here, I’m wishing all of you a day filled with love.
I feel like your other gift is being a fortune teller! Your writings for this book are almost exactly what has happened….i need to keep reading so I know what to expect next?!?!? Love it so far…
I am already in for this ride. Usually when I read one of your books I have a post it note “graft” right inside the cover. One for each character with brief overview until I get used to them and to who/where they belong. Tomorrow I run out and buy my “stack whiteboard” 😂😂
